This 1980s family home in North Vancouver needed a thoughtful refresh to improve functionality, define its living spaces, and bring a more cohesive feel throughout. Our clients wanted to update their entryway, dining room, and living room while maintaining a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere suited to everyday family life.

01. Dining Room: A Thoughtful Refresh
By recommending closing an existing wall opening between the entryway and the dining room, we created valuable space for a tall storage cabinet, adding much-needed functionality. Working with the clients' existing table and chairs, we introduced updated furnishings, lighting, and decorative accents to create a warm, cohesive space that feels elevated yet comfortable for everyday living.
02. Entryway: Creating Definition & Functional Storage
The original entryway featured large wall openings that left the surrounding spaces feeling disconnected. By closing and partially enclosing these openings, we created better-defined rooms while introducing practical storage solutions. A custom entryway closet with an integrated bench provides a dedicated space for coats and shoes, while a thoughtfully placed mirror adds a welcoming finishing touch.
03. Living Room: Layered Finishing Touches
With the sectional, rug, and coffee table already in place, the focus was on completing the room through carefully selected furniture, artwork, and accessories. A large statement artwork, textured table lamp, and wood sideboard add warmth and visual interest, while a mirror above the fireplace reflects natural light from the adjoining glass doors.
An existing leather accent chair was incorporated into a cozy reading corner, creating an inviting spot to unwind.

The Result
Although they were initially hesitant to close the architectural openings, the homeowners found that defining the spaces made their home feel more spacious and intentional. The refreshed interiors now offer a balance of practical storage, comfortable furnishings, and understated style, tailored to the family's everyday needs.
