One of my favourite parts of interior design is finding those special pieces that make a home feel collected and personal. And while sourcing online certainly has its place, there is something to be said for seeing materials in person, discovering an unexpected piece, and supporting a local business at the same time.
Since relocating Ariane Design Co. to the South Okanagan, I've loved getting to know the growing design community here. Penticton may be a smaller city, but there are some seriously beautiful shops for furniture, lighting, home decor and those finishing touches that can completely transform a space.
Whether you're furnishing a new home, planning a renovation, searching for a unique gift, or simply looking for some interior design inspiration, these are a few of my favourite home decor and interior design stores in Penticton, BC—plus a few worth the drive to Kelowna.
Tangent Home & Gift
25 Front Street, Penticton
Located downtown Penticton, Tangent Home & Gift is one of those shops where you'll want to take your time looking around.
Their selection brings together furniture, lighting, textiles, decor and gifts with a mix of timeless pieces and more unexpected finds. There's a warmth to the collection that makes everything feel considered without being overly coordinated—exactly what I look for when sourcing pieces that add personality to a home.
Tangent is particularly worth visiting when you're looking for the finishing layers of a space that can take a room from furnished to finished. They also have access to furnishings, lighting, artwork and accessories beyond what you see in store.
Designer tip: When shopping for accessories, don't feel like everything needs to come from the same collection—or even be the same style. Mixing materials, eras and shapes is often what gives a room depth.
Arcadia Modern Home
323 Main Street, Penticton
If you're looking for furniture and home decor in Penticton, Arcadia Modern Home should absolutely be on your list.
Their beautiful downtown showroom is filled with furniture, lighting, rugs, textiles and decor with a distinctly organic, contemporary point of view. Think warm woods, natural materials, earthy tones and sculptural shapes—a palette that feels especially at home here in the Okanagan.
There's a strong emphasis on quality and craftsmanship, with pieces sourced from makers and brands from around the world. Arcadia's 3,500-square-foot showroom also makes it particularly helpful when shopping for larger furniture; seeing the scale, materials and proportions of a piece in person can make a huge difference before making an investment.
Designer tip: Before furniture shopping, take photos of your room and note a few key measurements—including doorways. Knowing the maximum dimensions that work in your space makes it much easier to fall in love with the right piece.
The Shop by Wayne & Freda

You may already know Wayne & Freda for coffee and breakfast, but don't skip the little shop next door.
The Shop by Wayne & Freda is small but beautifully curated, and it's exactly the kind of place I love for discovering an interesting object, tabletop piece or gift you weren't necessarily looking for.
Rather than being a traditional furniture showroom, I'd think of this as a stop for the smaller pieces that give a home character. Their shop sits alongside the coffee shop, making this an especially easy addition to a morning spent exploring downtown Penticton. And yes, grabbing a coffee first is highly encouraged.
Guerard's Furniture
70 Backstreet Boulevard, Penticton
For larger furniture pieces, Guerard's Furniture is another local source worth knowing. This family-owned business has operated since 1945.
The longtime furniture showroom carries pieces for living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms, with customizable furniture among its offerings. This is less of a small-accessories boutique and more of a destination when you're actually furnishing a room and need substantial pieces.
A Few More Okanagan Design Shops Worth the Drive
Penticton is home, but when I'm sourcing for an interior design project, sometimes the search takes me a little farther up the valley. If you're heading to Kelowna, these three Kelowna furniture and home decor stores are worth adding to your list.
Nurtured Home Shoppe
1160 Ellis Street, Kelowna
Nurtured Home Shoppe is a beautifully curated shop in Kelowna's North End with a distinctly Scandinavian influence.
The collection leans into natural materials, earthy textures and quiet, timeless pieces rather than fast-moving trends. You'll find home decor alongside furniture, lighting, textiles and wallpaper, making it a particularly inspiring stop if you appreciate interiors that feel warm, restrained and collected.
It's the kind of store that proves neutral interiors don't have to be boring: texture, material and form can do just as much work as colour.
Treehouse Interiors
1901 Windsor Road, Kelowna
For furniture, Treehouse Interiors has been part of the Okanagan design community since 1992. The family-run showroom carries furniture and interior design accessories with a particularly strong selection of North American-made pieces.
One of their advantages is customization. Many of their sofas, chairs and beds can be personalized with different fabrics, woods and frames, which is invaluable when an almost-perfect piece needs a different finish or upholstery to work with the rest of a room. You can also find many decor items to spruce up your home or gift to someone.
Shopping Local for Your Okanagan Home
One of the benefits of working with local furniture and home decor stores is simply being able to experience a piece before bringing it into your home. You can sit on the sofa, see how a wood finish reads in natural light, feel a textile and get a much better sense of scale than you ever could from a product photo.
It also gives us access to pieces that aren't in every home—and helps support the independent businesses contributing to the growing design community here in Penticton and throughout the Okanagan.

The goal isn't to fill a home from one store; it's to bring together pieces that feel cohesive while still giving the home its own identity.
